Caravelle Formula Junior
Caravelle Formula Junior This car was designed by Richard Utley, with the original intention to put in a Fiat engine, but later returning to conventional wisdom, by putting in a Ford 105E Kent engine. It saw some very respectable finishes in the 1960 season, driven by Bob Hicks, but in 1961 the “home-based” team was unable to compete with the factory backed teams and folded. The Caravelle lives on, and here it shown at the Silverstone Historics, still being maintained and now also driven by Richard Utley, 45 years after its design. These are the things that make visits to historic races so rewarding. Richard Utley is seen on the fourth pic, bending over his pride and joy.
