The Schumacher "S"
The fast left-right switchback after the Dunlop hairpin will be renamed the 'Schumacher S' in honour of Schumi, who claimed five grand prix wins at the German circuit. The circuit is also considered to be Schumacher's home track, as it is closer to the birthplace of Kerpen than Germany's other F1 track, Hockenheim, is. "It was imperative that we did something prestigious to honour him," Nurburgring director Walter Kafitz told AFP. "Schumacher is the greatest driver in the history of German motorsport." The rename ceremony will take place at July's German GP and Schumacher is expected to drive a lap of honour to mark the occasion. "I am very proud of this honour which they have given me," the retired Ferrari driver said. As posted on
